One of my favorite parts of being the CEO of Baby Be Hip is the opportunity to teach others and share some of the things I have learned on this crazy entrepreneurial journey. There have definitely been some highs and some lows, and I’m hopeful that sharing my story will help others as they embark on their life’s journey.

Recently I was asked to speak to the Young Entrepreneur’s Academy (YEA) on the subject of e-commerce, and I jumped at the chance. It’s pretty incredible to see middle school and high school students who have a business idea and are willing to put in the hard work to see their dreams become a reality. (I know I wasn’t at that level when I was their age!) It’s especially inspiring to see the support they are receiving through this program, both the business development foundation and the mentors that commit time weekly to help them realize their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs. The business ideas were clever and the questions were very thoughtful. I was impressed.

Every semester I also get the chance to speak to students who are in the entrepreneur class at the local high school. I wish I had been able to take this class in high school, as they get to spend the entire semester learning about starting a business and visiting local businesses. Talk about real life learning!

I welcome these opportunities, which inevitably end up being a gift to me. Though I start by sharing my experiences with them, I always leave the experience feeling like they’ve taught me a thing or two. And I’m always inspired by their energy, their curiosity and their determination. I know it’s a cliché, but you really do get back more than you give.
