Over the years, I have wondered if I am spreading myself too thin both being a mom and running a business. I’m glad I have stayed with it. This is a letter that my daughter, Molly, who is ten, gave me at Christmas time. I shed a few tears of joy, for sure. It is now hanging on my vision board in my office. I know I am doing the right thing for me and my children are good with it. So, yes, I am a happy Mompreneur.
I guess my daughter is really watching my every move, and I am so happy to see she is proud of me. That’s what we all want, right?
By the way, the gift she gave me was a mini “fire pit” for my desk. She knows I am always cold so this warms my body and her letter warmed my heart. Have I mentioned that I am blessed? I am.
So for all you moms thinking of starting a business or doing something for you…do it. I have found that if I get my kids involved and let them feel like they are part of the business, it is a win-win. Of course, there are the times that they would rather not go to work with Mom (or don’t like when I need to go to an event) but I always take the time to explain why I do the things I do and why I need their help at this time. They now often ask if they can go to work with me because it is fun (and they can work and make a few bucks). Thank you, Molly, for making me proud to be your Mom and allowing me to see how you view your “crazy busy but crazy good” Mom. I love you, Molly.
